Vertical jump is pivotal for sport performance, be it, quite obviously for basketball or volleyball; for scoring well in evaluation tests or as a way to improve overall strength and explosiveness. Here's an example of a technique to build real world strength usable in sports practice. Full details and hands-on learning were given on the Training for Strength Sport seminar series world tour with Dmitry Klokov.Complex #1A1- Snatch Pull from a dead stop, 6x3reps, on a X1X0 tempo, rest 10 seconds*A2- Long Range Power Snatch, 6x3reps, on a X0X0 tempo, rest 3 minutes***pick a weight that allows you to heave the bar to nipples height** 30-35% less weight on the barThe first exercise overloads the CNS with heavier weights. This acts as a primer for strength and explosiveness since high threshold motor units are stimulated. The second exercise builds up on that, it facilitates the learning process and makes use of the stretch shortening cycle for better performance.
