Sunoil Ltd. has dropped a lawsuit that it was pursuing in the Supreme Court of British Columbia against its former chairman, Robert Gardner. The company had claimed that Mr. Gardner and others fraudulently misrepresented the value of a property called East Teapot. Sunoil said that the purported $16.7-million oil property turned out to be worth just $1.7-million. (All figures are in U.S. dollars.)

The end of the matter is contained in a consent order filed at the Vancouver courthouse on March 23, 2018. The order simply states that the lawsuit is dismissed, with each side to bear its own legal costs. Lawyers for Sunoil, Mr. Gardner and the many other parties to the suit signed the order. The matter had been set for trial in November, 2016, but the hearing was cancelled before the date arrived.
