(IDEX Online) - Police in New York have arrested a man suspected of a string of armed robberies, including a $375,000 jewelry heist.Federal prosecutors say Franco Alexander Peraza Navas, 30, has been charged with "a wanton spree of at least two gunpoint carjackings and six gunpoint robberies and attempted robberies."He is accused of the raid on a jewelry store on on 103rd St. in Queens. Prosecutors say he shot through a bulletproof partition, "then kicked through the now-damaged bulletproof partition and stole approximately three trays of diamond and gold rings with an approximate value of $375,000 before fleeing on a black moped."Navas is also alleged to have fire three times during another jewelry store robbery in November. All crimes are alleged to have taken place between August and December.Navas was ordered to be held without bail in an arraignment at Brooklyn Federal Court.Pic of Navas courtesy US Department of Justice
