SHANGHAI, May 30 (SMM) – Suzhou city in Jiangsu province plans to promote the sale of 9,000 new-energy vehicles (NEVs) and to build 2,245 new charging points in 2018, according to a notice by the Suzhou Economic and Information Technology Commission on May 11.

The promotion target was distributed to local districts including Zhangjiagang, Changshu, and Kunshan.

In 2017, a total of 4,561 NEVs and 2,259 charging points in Suzhou were submitted for provincial subsidies, showed data from the commission. These numbers fell short of the 2017 target of 7,200 NEVs and 2,600 charging points, SMM learned.

Separately, the Jiangxi government plans to push its annual capacity of NEVs to 500,000 units by 2020 with operating revenues of 50 billion yuan, Xinhua reported on Monday May 28. Some 260 charging stations with 100,000 charging points will be built to meet demand of NEVs by then.
