Taiwanese buyers continued to chase after imports of heavy melting scrap (HMS) imports this week, which caused prices to increase amid limited supply.
Transactions were being concluded at increasingly higher prices throughout the week.
They went from $220 per tonne cfr, $221 per tonne cfr and $222 per tonne cfr in the first half of the week to around $226-227 per tonne cfr in the second half.
Offers for materials from the United States West Coast increased continually from $222 per tonne cfr to $230 per tonne cfr toward the latter part of the week.
