TAIWAN STEEL SCRAP: Severe port congestion off Los Angeles continues to stymie spot trades

Port congestion off the coast of Los Angeles, southern California, is still stymieing spot trades for containerized heavy melting scrap 1&2 (80:20) to Taiwan, market sources said this week.

Fastmarkets' daily price assessment for containerized steel scrap HMS 1&2 (80:20 mix) US material import, cfr main port Taiwan was $452-453 per tonne on Friday September 10, unchanged from Thursday and up by $5-7 from $445-448 per tonne a week prior.
Transactions were concluded at higher prices. Deals were confirmed at $450 per tonne cfr Taiwan on Monday, before increasing to $452-453 per tonne cfr Taiwan by Tuesday and Wednesday.
