Tantalum oversupply to continue until at least end of 2020, exec says

Tantalum oversupply will continue until at least the end of this year, John Crawley, managing director of Refractory Metals Mining, said during the Tantalum-Niobium International Study Center's virtual conference this week.

"The fourth quarter of the year might be hurt by [an abundance of] inventory accumulated during the third quarter of the year," Crawley said during a panel discussion on Monday October 12 regarding the impact of Covid-19 on the tantalum and niobium supply chain.
"We will see consumers working down their inventories before they buy material again," he added.
Supply was reduced in the first half of the year, Crawley noted.
