Tata Steel Ijmuiden pig iron production stops as workers strike again

Pig iron production at Tata Steel IJmuiden in the Netherlands was stopped on Friday June 19, while the plant's workers went on a 24-hour strike, sources told Fastmarkets.

The iron ore supply to two of IJmuiden's blast furnaces (BF) was completely stopped, sources close to trade unions said.
But Tata Steel said that one BF was stopped for a short planned maintenance, while another BF was taken off flow due to the strike.
The stoppage will not affect finished steel deliveries as the action was short, the company said.
