Pre-opening Comments for Friday April 30th

U.S. equity index futures were lower this morning. S&P 500 futures were down 23 points in pre-opening trade.

Equity index futures moved slightly lower following release of U.S. March Personal Income and March Personal Spending at 8:30 AM EDT. Consensus for March Personal Income was an increase of 20.3% versus a decline of 7.1% in February. Actual was an increase of 21.1%. Consensus for March Personal Spending was an increase of 4.3% versus a decline of 1.0% in February. Actual was an increase of 4.2%.

The Canadian Dollar was virtually unchanged at US81.47 cents following release of Canada's February GDP at 8:30 AM EDT. Consensus was an increase of 0.5% versus a gain of 0.7% in January. Actual was an increase of 0.4%.

Amazon advanced $140.48 to an all-time high at $3,592.00 after reporting higher than consensus first quarter revenues and earnings. The company also raised guidance. Target price on the stock was raised by Stifel Nicolaus, Raymond James, Wedbush, JP Morgan, Deutsche Bank, Mizuho and Susquehanna.

Twitter dropped $6.20 to $58.89 after reporting lower than consensus first quarter revenues. The company also lowered guidance for the second quarter. Target price on the stock was reduced by Stifel Nicolaus, Wedbush, JP Morgan, Deutsche Bank and KeyBanc Capital.

Gilead dropped $1.70 to $62.14 after reporting lower than consensus first quarter revenues.
