Tech Talk for Thursday November 14th 2019

U.S. equity index futures were lower this morning. S&P 500 futures were down 5 points in pre-opening trade.

Index futures were virtually unchanged following release of economic news at 8:30 AM EST. Consensus for Weekly Initial Jobless Claims was an increase to 215,000 from 211,000 last week. Actual was an increase to 225,000. Consensus for the October Producer Price Index was an increase of 0.2% versus a decline of 0.3% in September. Actual was an increase of 0.4%. Excluding food and energy, consensus for the October Producer Price Index was an increase of 0.2% versus a decline of 0.3% in September. Actual was an increase of 0.1%..

Cisco dropped $2.47 to $45.99 after lowering fiscal second quarter guidance.

Walmart gained $3.45 to $124.44 after reporting higher than consensus fiscal third quarter earnings. The company also raised guidance.

Viacom (VIAB $22.05) is expected to open higher after reporting higher than consensus fiscal fourth quarter revenues and earnings.

TSX Momentum Barometer

The Barometer added 1.35 to 60.36 yesterday. It returned to intermediate overbought from intermediate neutral on a move back above 60.00.
