Pre-opening Comments for Tuesday July 21st
U.S. equity index futures were higher this morning. S&P 500 futures were up 22 points in pre-opening trade.
The Canadian Dollar was virtually unchanged at US74.34 cents following release of Canadian May Retail Sales at 8:30 AM EDT. Consensus was an increase of 20.0% versus a decline of 22.0% in April. Actual was an increase of 18.7%. Excluding auto sales, consensus for May Retail Sales was an increase of 11.9% versus a decline of 22.0% in April. Actual was an increase of 10.6%.
IBM advanced$5.63 to $132.000 after reporting higher than consensus second quarter earnings.
Coca Cola added $1.03 to $47.15 after reporting higher than consensus second quarter earnings.
Philip Morris gained $2.11 to $75.00 after reporting higher than consensus second quarter revenues and earnings.
Twitter added $0.74 to $37.80 after Deutsche Bank raised its target price from $28 to $36.2
