U.S. equity index futures were lower this morning. S&P 500 futures were down 28 points in pre-opening trade.

Macy's added $0.97 to $10.52 after reporting a less than consensus first quarter loss.

Signet Jewelers dropped $0.87 to $16.00 after reporting lower than consensus first quarter revenues. The company also suspended its dividend.
