(IDEX Online) - Ten women designers have each created a limited edition of 10 affordable engagement rings, all using ethically and sustainably sourced diamonds from Botswana. They were challenged to re-design the iconic symbol of love for the Ten/Ten project, all using diamonds under a carat from De Beers. The 100 rings will be sold exclusively on Blue Nile from January.New York-based Marla Aaron (pictured), one of the chosen designers, said: "I have loved learning about how mining started to happen in Botswana, how it is so community-based. It seems authentic, aligned with the values we have as a company."Stephen Lussier, executive vice president of consumer markets at De Beers, said: "We are offering a fresh take on how this symbol is still essentially meaningful for couples today." Sean Kell, CEO of Blue Nile, said: "Collections like Ten/Ten offer a reinvented, fresh and relevant take on the traditional diamond engagement ring."
