TES to build 'Europe's biggest' lithium battery recycling plant in Rotterdam

Global recycling company TES plans to build its first lithium-ion battery recycling plant at the Port of Rotterdam in the Netherlands, according to a joint statement made on Monday July 5.

The new plant will have capacity for 10,000 tonnes per year, and will be the first of its kind in the European country, TES and the port authority said in the announcement. It should be fully operational by late 2022, they added.
The unit "could very well become the largest European facility for recycling batteries from electric cars," Allard Castelein, chief executive officer at the Port of Rotterdam, said.
