The Sound Money Defense League is a public policy project aimed at bringing awareness to gold and silver as "sound money" and enacting legislative change across the country to reduce sales taxes on the precious metals. Jp Cortez, policy director of the League, tells David Lin, anchor for Kitco News, that there is a big discrepancy across the country when it comes to tax rates for gold and silver; some states, like Arkansas, have eliminated sales taxes altogether while others, like Tennessee have a sales tax rate of 10%, one of the highest in the country.
