The IDEX Online Polished Price Report - June 2019

By Yaakov Almor / July 01, 2019 / www.idexonline.com / Article Link

Like in previous months, price developments in rounds remain few and sporadic with mixed trends and especially in sizes under a carat rather subdued. The important 1.00-1.25 carat group, a significant market gauge, remained very stable, with only a couple of categories showing some growth. As during previous months, categories above two carats continue to show increased volatility compared to other sizes, in the same low, single digit percentages. While trends remain mixed for the most part, this month some categories lost up to five percent. 2.00-3.00 cts saw some 3% rises VVS1 / IJK goods, while 5.00 ct goods of SI, H-N declined 2-3 percent.

The fancy shape market, a diamond dealer said at the JCK Las Vegas show, is not commoditised like the rounds market and therefore "don't try to look for logic", look for trends in jewelry design and demand!"

Prices of smaller sized goods, under 30 points, remained unchanged.

Stones between 0.30 to 0.40 carats saw some declines in higher colors, and trends for pointers were mixed. In the 1.00-1.24 carat category, K+ colors, in SI1 and better clarities continued to do well with price gains of 2-3 percent. This trend was also continued in larger goods of up to 4.00 cts, while 5.00 cts showed similar gains in H+ / SI and lower clarities.
