Third Man Jailed over Jeweler's Homicide

(IDEX Online) - A 66-year-old man has been convicted and sentenced in connection the murder of jeweler in Connecticut, USA.Thomas Liberatore was handed a 32-year sentence for his role in what police described as the "cold-blooded murder" of Mark Vuono, 69, in March 2020.Two accomplices, Paul "Tony Pro" Prosano, 63, and Robert Rallo, 59, were sentenced previously to 30 years and 40 years respectively.Prosano denied all charges but Rallo pleaded guilty. A court heard he already had a firearm but reached into the safe at Marco Jewlers, and retrieved a gun with which he shot and killed Vuono. Liberatore and Prosano were convicted of interference with commerce by robbery (Hobbs Act robbery) and interstate transportation of stolen property.Liberatore was also found guilty of aiding and abetting the use of a firearm to cause a death during a robbery. The three men, all described as career criminals, met at New York State Department of Corrections.Vuono's death was the first homicide of a jeweler in the United States since January 2018, according to Jewelers' Security Alliance.
