Silver is in a relatively short supply compared to other metals needed for energy transition, said the CEO of Vizsla Silver, Michael Konnert.
Konnert spoke to Kitco on Wednesday. Vizsla Silver (TSX-V: VZLA) is developing its Panuco silver district in Mexico.
While silver is a precious metal, Konnert said it also has industrial uses, particularly for solar and some advanced electronics, and demand is set to increase. "The electrification application of silver is what really excites me," said Konnert, who noted some projections showing increased demand upwards of 20%.
"That's so much more impactful to the silver market because it's a tighter market compared to copper and nickel. I think silver will certainly be one of the top performers of this inevitable change into electrification," said Konnert.
Konnert said Viszla's Panuco district counts as one of the highest-grade silver discoveries in the world. Infrastructure is good, notes Konnert. Panuco is located 45 minutes away from Mazatl??n, with access to electricity and water. The project is close to one of Mexico's main highways.
