Torex: Blockade Of ELG Mine Complex Ends

TorexGold Resources Inc. (TSX: TXG) reports that an “illegal blockade” by anexternal union has been removed at its El Limon-Guajes Mine Complex in Mexicoafter intervention by the governor of the Guerrero state. The company says itnow has access to the main plant access gate, accommodation facilities,security for the main plant site, and for the El Limon Pit, which had beenpreviously inaccessible. “We preferred a negotiated solution, but, this is thenext best thing,” says Fred Stanford, president and chief executive officer ofTorex. The blockade had prevented workers from reaching the site. “We arepleased so many employees...have been able to return to work, and we look forwardto welcoming the rest of the team back as services to manage accommodations arerestored,” Stanford adds.The ELG mine complex has been restarted and has been in continuous ramp-upmode, behind the blockade, since Jan.12, the company says. Theprocessing plant start-up team has ramped up throughput levels, with productionnow routinely achieving between 12,000 and 13,000 tonnes per day. Officialsreport that 12,100 ounces of gold have been poured.
