TURKEY FLAT STEEL: Buyers hesitant to book at high prices because of long lead times

Flat steel prices in the Turkish market continued to rise in the week to Friday December 18, although buyers were reluctant to book material because orders placed now will be delivered in April at the earliest.

Domestic prices
Fastmarkets' weekly price assessment for steel hot-rolled coil, domestic, exw Turkey was $760-760 per tonne on December 18, rising from $730-750 per tonne on December 11.
Hot-rolled coil producers in Turkey were offering product for April delivery and buyers were reluctant to place orders with a four-month lead time, market sources said.
Turkish HRC producers offered at $770 per tonne ex-works for April production, up from offers for March production at $730-750 per tonne ex-works last week.
Deals were made in the first part of the pricing period at $750-760 per tonne ex-works.
