TURKEY FLAT STEEL: Local prices increase on stronger demand

Local flat steel prices increased in Turkey during the week ended Friday May 22 because of strong demand in the country.

Scrap prices also increased during the week, with new deals reported.
Fastmarkets' daily index for steel scrap, HMS 1&2 (80:20 mix), US origin, cfr Turkey, was $252.31 per tonne on May 22, rising from $244.37 per tonne on May 15.
HRC exports
Fastmarkets' weekly price assessment for steel hot-rolled coil, export, fob main port Turkey, was $415-420 per tonne on May 22, rising from $390-400 per tonne on May 15.
Demand was weak in the export markets and no major deals were heard.
