TURKEY FLAT STEEL: Weak post-holiday demand keeps domestic, export prices stable

Flat steel prices in the Turkish domestic and export market were unchanged in the first full week of 2021 after the festive holidays, while local producers were offering material with long lead times which buyers were hesitant to accept, sources told Fastmarkets.

Market activity was slow during the week to Friday January 8 because it was the first week of 2021 and some countries were not yet back from Christmas holidays.
In addition, local producers were offering hot-rolled coil for April production and buyers were opting to wait for global markets to fully return to business before committing to material with a three-months lead time, sources said.
Cold-rolled coil producers in Turkey are offering the product for late February production earliest.
