TURKEY FLAT STEEL WRAP: Markets continue rising in July; global price strength supports in near term

Most Turkish flat steel prices increased over the month of July, and market participants expect further price increases because of global price trends.

Turkish flat steel producers are fully booked until late-September.
The market was active for most of July but working days were limited because of national holidays during the month, including Democracy Day on July 15 and Eid al-Adha on July 30- August 3.
Crude steel output
Turkey produced 26.29 million tonnes of crude steel in January-June 2020, down by 4.1% from 16.99 million tonnes produced in January-June 2019, according to the World Steel Association.
Domestic prices
HRC, CRC
Turkish hot-rolled and cold-rolled flat steel prices increased in July due to strong buying, and also high prices in global markets.
Fastmarkets' weekly price assessment for steel HRC, domestic, exw Turkey was $450-460 per tonne on July 31, rising from $430-440 per tonne on July 3.
