TURKEY LONG STEEL EXPORTS: Prices surge on higher scrap costs, better demand

Turkish export prices for steel rebar and wire rod have increased over the past week amid rising import costs for scrap and a recovery in demand, market sources said on Thursday February 18.

Fastmarkets' weekly price assessment for steel reinforcing bar (rebar), export, fob main port Turkey, was $605-620 per tonne on Thursday, up from last week's $595-600 per tonne.
The steel producers in the country resumed their deep-sea scrap bookings on February 10, dragging prices up by more than $22 per tonne on a weekly basis.
