TURKEY STEEL BILLET: Prices up on costlier scrap and firm demand

Turkish steel billet prices have increased sharply over the past week and pushed even higher on Thursday November 26, due to strong demand and rising imported scrap costs, sources told Fastmarkets.

Steel mills in Turkey have been booking deep-sea scrap cargoes over the past week at increasing prices and growing demand for long steel products in the export market has also supported higher prices.
Fastmarkets' daily index for steel scrap, HMS 1&2 (80:20 mix), US origin, cfr Turkey, was $344.99 per tonne on November 25, up from $329 per tonne on November 18.
