TURKEY STEEL BILLET: Rising scrap costs drag up billet values

Turkish billet prices increased during the week ended October 14 because of the upturn in imported scrap costs, market participants told Fastmarkets.

Turkish deep-sea scrap import prices have increased in the past week due to limited supply and firm demand.

The most recent deep-sea scrap import trade was reported on Wednesday October 13, when a steel mill in the Izmir region paid $480 per tonne cfr for 35,000 tonnes of HMS 1&2 (80:20) to a Baltic Sea supplier.
