Turkish flat steel exports up by 77% in October

Turkey's flat steel export volumes rose by 77.08% year-on-year in October 2018, according to data newly published by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK).

The reason for the increase in export volumes was strong demand, especially in Europe, as well as weak domestic demand within Turkey, according to market participants.Fastmarkets' average price for Turkish domestic hot-rolled coil (HRC) was $555.83 per tonne ex-works in October 2018, while the export price for Turkish HRC averaged $559.50 per tonne fob in the same month.Demand for flat steel is currently falling in Turkey's export markets, however, because of the approaching year-end and Christmas holiday...
