Turkish flat steel imports up by 12% in April

Turkey imported 703,977 tonnes of flat steel in April 2018, according to a statement by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) on Monday June 4.

This was up by 12.24% from the corresponding month in 2017, when 627,186 tonnes arrived in the country.Demand for flat steel is not strong in Turkey, because of the weakness of the country's lira and the current political uncertainty created by the calling of general and presidential elections to be held on June 24.The lira was trading at TRY100 to $21.65 on June 5, down from TRY100...
