U.S. will try to avoid damaging economy with new tariffs: Treasury secretary

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Trump administration will try to keep any new steel and aluminum tariffs from hurting the U.S. economy, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said on Tuesday.

“I think we have a way of managing through this,” Mnuchin told House of Representatives lawmakers during a hearing on President Donald Trump’s budget proposal.
