UK SCRAP: Light iron market supported by higher export prices

Prices for light iron scrap in the United Kingdom have been stable over the past week, with small but steady increases in export prices to key export destinations such as Turkey and the Indian subcontinent supporting the domestic market, sources told Metal Bulletin.

Steady trading activity in the UK light iron market is cementing inter-merchant prices in their current range for the second consecutive week. Metal Bulletin's weekly price assessment for UK grade-5C ferrous scrap on an inter-merchant basis held at ?85-115 ($112-152) per tonne on Friday September 21.The UK light iron inter-merchant market is trading at the higher end of its price range in northern England, where dockside export prices in Liverpool have edged higher in the past week.
