UK SCRAP: Market steady on tight supply, looks for further gains

The inter-merchant spot price for light iron scrap in the UK has been stable over the past week amid quiet trading activity, while tracking a similar trend in European export markets to Turkey and the Indian subcontinent, sources said on Friday April 24.

Fastmarkets' weekly price assessment for steel scrap 5C, loose old light, domestic, delivered inter-merchant, was ?50-60 ($62-74) per tonne on April 24, unchanged week on week. The market had edged up over the week ended April 17 on tight supplies into many yards across the country.
