UK STEEL SCRAP WEEKLY: Market price holds on steady fundamentals

The inter-merchant spot price for light iron scrap in the UK was unchanged in the week to Friday June 19, consolidating last week's gain of almost 3.5% and reflecting a balance between relatively low levels of scrap arisings and subdued domestic steel demand.

There has been enough overseas demand to traditional markets in Turkey and the Indian subcontinent from Europe in June to cement gains in British weekly steel scrap prices in the month, according to UK trade sources.
Fastmarkets' weekly price assessment for steel scrap 5C, loose old light, domestic, delivered inter-merchant, UK was ?80-90 ($100-112) per tonne on Friday, stable from a week earlier.
