US cold-rolled coil, galvanized base prices get boost from mill increases

US cold-rolled and galvanized base prices have risen due to a round of price increases that has been partially accepted by the domestic market.

Fastmarkets' weekly price assessment for steel cold-rolled coil, fob mill US was assessed at $35 per hundredweight ($700 per ton) on Thursday October 31, up 2.9% from $34 per cwt the week prior - its lowest since April 2016 - but down 4.1% from $36.50 per cwt at the end of September.Galvanized base prices charted a similar course.The weekly price assessment for steel hot-dipped galvanized (base) coil, fob mill US stood at $34.50 per cwt on Thursday, up 3% from a multi-year low of $33.50 a week earlier but down 4.2% from $36 per cwt at the end of September.Inputs for...
