US cold-rolled coil, galvanized sheet prices jump after mill lead times extend

Prices for cold-rolled coil and galvanized steel sheet in the United States climbed after more customers made restocking commitments, pushing lead times out at the mills.

Fastmarkets' weekly price assessment for steel cold-rolled coil, fob mill US rose to $34 per hundredweight ($680 per short ton) on Thursday September 3, from $33 per cwt ($660 per ton) on August 27.
Fastmarkets' price assessment for steel hot-dipped galvanized (base) steel coil, fob mill US leaped to $34.50 per cwt ($690 per ton) on Thursday, from $33 per cwt a week earlier.
