US cold-rolled, galvanized coil join HRC in search of price floor

Prices for cold-rolled and galvanized flat-rolled steel have slipped for the first time in two months due to concerns about demand and lower substrate prices.

Fastmarkets' assessment for steel cold-rolled coil, fob mill US, was at $37.50 per hundredweight ($750 per short ton) on Thursday August 22, down by 1.3% from $38 per cwt a week earlier and off by 25% from $50 per cwt a year earlier.Galvanized base prices followed the same path.Fastmarkets' assessment of the hot-dipped galvanized (base) steel coil, fob mill US, was at $38 per cwt on August 22, down by 1.3% from $38.50 per cwt a week earlier and off by 24.4%...
