The US Department of Commerce has issued its final determinations in the trade cases against imports of silicon metal from Australia, Brazil, Norway and Kazakhstan, revising some duties upward from its preliminary rulings.
Brazil was hit with the highest final dumping duties.Commerce has levied a country-wide dumping rate of 68.97% for all Brazilian silicon metal producers and exporters, including mandatory respondent Palmyra do Brasil, formerly known as Dow Corning Sil?-cio do Brasil.The exception was Ligas de Alum?-nio SA (Liasa), which received a dumping rate of 134.92% "based on adverse facts available for its failure to co-operate in the investigation," Commerce said.In its preliminary determinations, the department found that Brazilian silicon had entered the United States at a range of 56.78% to 134.92% lower than fair value.
