US CRC, galv tags up again; mart factors in outages

Prices for cold-rolled and galvanized steel sheet in the United States strengthened after more domestic mills notified customers that maintenance outages will reduce output in the coming months.

Fastmarkets' weekly price assessment for steel cold-rolled coil, fob mill US climbed to $107.50 per hundredweight ($2,150 per short ton) on Thursday August 19 from $107 per cwt on Thursday August 12. The assessment has gained $75 per cwt (230.8%) over 52 weeks. Fastmarkets' price assessment for steel hot-dipped galvanized coil (cold-rolled base), fob mill US increased to $108 per cwt on Thursday from $107.50 per cwt a week earlier.
