US domestic galvanized sheet prices converge

Prices for galvanized steel sheet in the United States have strengthened, with hot-dipped galvanized made from hot-rolled coil base now equal to HDG made from cold-rolled coil.

Fastmarkets' weekly price assessment for steel cold-rolled coil, fob mill US was unchanged at $42 per hundredweight ($840 per short ton) on Thursday October 29, breaking a streak of 10 consecutive weeks of increases.
Fastmarkets' price assessment for steel hot-dipped galvanized (cold-rolled coil base) steel coil, fob mill US climbed to $42.50 per cwt ($850 per ton) on Thursday, from $42 per ton ($840 per ton) a week earlier.
Both assessments stood at $32 per cwt ($640 per ton) on August 13. Cold-rolled then rose every single week until this week. HDG's streak - now at 11 weeks - is still intact.
