US ferrous scrap exports chart mixed moves in December

Ferrous scrap exports from the United States fell in December but finished 2019 stronger than the prior year, according to US Census Bureau data.

December shipmentsHigher ferrous scrap deliveries to Canada and Turkey in December were not enough to offset steep declines elsewhere, such as Bangladesh, versus the prior month. US exports of the product totaled 1,356,144 tonnes during the month, down by 9.8% sequentially from 1,503,807 tonnes.Exports to Bangladesh dropped by 58% to 66,351 tonnes in December from 157,792 tonnes in November.Shipments to Turkey, meanwhile, increased by 4.6% to 446,590 tonnes from 427,064 tonnes in the same comparison, and those to Canada gained by 78.5% to 103,340 tonnes from 57,897 tonnes.The strong demand from Turkey, which was booked...
