US galvalume prices hit record for fifth month in row

Galvalume prices in the United States surged to a record high for a fifth consecutive month, with buyer worries about finding material trumping concerns about cost.

"Galvalume is probably backed up more than all coated products," one distributor source said. "Prices are crazy whenever supplies are available."
Fastmarkets' monthly price assessment for steel coil Galvalume, fob mill US was at $83.50 per hundredweight ($1,670 per short ton) on Tuesday May 18, up by 10.60% from $75.50 per cwt on April 20 and more than double $32.75 per cwt on May 19, 2020. This is the highest since Fastmarkets began assessing this price in January 1994.
