US hot-, cold-rolled coil import prices rise

Prices for certain imported flat steel products rose in the United States, with increasing domestic prices and tight supplies making shipments from abroad competitive when they were available, market participants said.

Fastmarkets' price assessment for steel hot-rolled coil, import, ddp Houston rose to $620-650 per short ton ($31-32.50 per hundredweight) on Wednesday November 11, up by 2.4% from $590-650 per ton on October 28.
The price range represents both offers and transactions for South Korean and Turkish hot-rolled coil slated to arrive at Gulf Coast ports in January, February, March and April 2021, market participants said. The current assessment also represents pricing from Canadian mills, whose material is typically available on lead times similar to those of US domestic mills.
