US hot-rolled coil index climbs, nearing $98/cwt

Hot-rolled coil prices in the United States rose for the first time this month, while some buyers said that they were delaying purchases because they expect material will be cheaper in the coming weeks.

Fastmarkets' daily steel hot-rolled coil index, fob mill US was calculated at $97.94 per hundredweight ($1,958.80 per short ton) on Thursday October 7, up by 0.64% from $97.32 per cwt on Wednesday October 6 but down by 0.14% from $98.08 per cwt one week earlier.
