US hot-rolled coil index dips further; buyers look to imports

Hot-rolled coil prices in the United States dipped for the fourth consecutive business day, consolidating around the $97.30-per-hundredweight ($1,946-per-short-ton) level, with several buyers insisting the pricing rally may have hit its peak.

Fastmarkets' daily steel hot-rolled coil index, fob mill US was calculated at $97.32 per cwt ($1,946.40 per ton) on Wednesday October 6, down by 7 cents (0.07%) from $97.39 per cwt on Tuesday October 5 and down by 60 cents (0.61%) from $97.92 per cwt a week earlier.Fresh inputs were received in all three sub-indices in a tight range of $96.00-98.25...
