US hot-rolled coil index falls, remains near prior day's record

Hot-rolled coil prices in the United States dropped slightly but were still near the all-time record, while spot-market availability was forecast to be tight through the current quarter.

Fastmarkets' daily steel hot-rolled coil index, fob mill US was calculated $65.69 per hundredweight ($1,313.80 per short ton) on Tuesday March 23, a slight decrease from a record-high $65.78 per cwt on Monday March 22 but up 1.77% from $64.55 per cwt one week earlier.Inputs consisting of confirmed transactions and general assessments of market pricing levels...
