US HRC exceeds $97/cwt for 8th time in 9 days

Hot-rolled coil prices in the United States were above $97 per hundredweight for the eighth time in the past nine business days, with market participants speculating that tight market conditions will continue during the fourth quarter when mills shutdown for maintenance.

Fastmarkets' daily steel hot-rolled coil index, fob mill US was calculated at $97.48 per cwt ($1,949.60 per ton) on Thursday September 23, up by 0.56% from $96.94 per cwt on September 22 but down by 0.07% from $97.55 per cwt one week earlier.
