US HRC index dips on negative February scrap outlook

Hot-rolled coil prices in the United States went down slightly on Friday January 24 due to slow spot market activity amid negative outlooks on ferrous scrap prices, sources said.

Fastmarkets' daily steel hot-rolled coil index, fob mill US was calculated at $30.09 per hundredweight ($601.80 per short ton) on Friday, down by 1.1% from $30.44 per cwt on January 23 but 0.5% higher than $29.94 per cwt a week earlier on January 17.
