US stainless cold-rolled sheet prices inch up; buyers wait

Stainless steel cold-rolled sheet prices in the United States mostly moved in line with surcharges in August, with some buyers remaining on the sidelines until demand improves.

Fastmarkets' price assessments for stainless steel 304 cold-rolled sheet, fob mill US and for stainless steel 304L cold-rolled sheet, fob mill US both rose by 50 cents per hundredweight to $117.50 per cwt and $119.50 per cwt respectively on Monday August 10. The price for stainless steel 316L cold-rolled sheet, fob mill US remained flat at $152 per cwt, unchanged since rising to that level on June 10.
Most sources agreed that base prices for stainless cold-rolled sheet products appear to be unchanged this month.
