US stainless scrap market at a standstill

Prices in the stainless steel scrap market in the United States were little-changed this week due to dealers and processors moving cautiously in the market.

"It seems like both the mills and the processors have decided to drop anchor at these levels for awhile," one dealer said. "I doubt there will be any significant changes as we head toward the end of the year, given the tremendous amount of uncertainty that exists."Across the country, sources are concerned about scrap market conditions for the remainder of the year and into 2021, with little upside seen any time soon given the Covid-19 pandemic and upcoming US federal elections, among other factors."Steel scrap is in the same boat as stainless steel scrap....
