US stainless scrap market enjoys balance

The US stainless steel scrap market "has become boring," some industry participants said, although that has brought some stability.

"I like boring if we can make money," one major processor said."Any price changes we see in this market are very incremental," another major processor said, also indicating that the next move he sees "will be downward because there is too much metal in the marketplace."American Metal Market's assessment of broker/processor buying prices in Pittsburgh shows most grades unchanged. Type 316 stainless scrap solids rose by a penny on the low end and 2 cents on the high end to 92-94 cents per lb ($2,061-2,106 per gross ton)...
