US stainless scrap market remains firm

The stainless steel scrap market in the United States was stalled this week, with prices for nickel, chrome and iron all largely holding steady.

"Prices have strong headwinds," according to one processor source, who also indicated that third-quarter chrome prices could collapse."I am seeing a little weakening in prices, even with nickel slightly better today," one dealer source said."Most processors are holding their numbers even though nickel took a leap in the last two days," another dealer said.American Metal Market's assessments of broker/processor buying prices in Pittsburgh were unchanged across the board. Type 316 stainless scrap solids held at 90-91...
